Concern#3

Concern#3 “So What’s It Going To Cost Me?”

I’ve been getting tons of questions from coaches wanting more details about the upcoming launch and the 3rd most asked question is “What’s this going to cost?”

Now I’m still working on the final website bonuses but would like to address your “price” concerns up front. (I can tell you that you definitely won’t need to take out a 2nd mortgage:-) )

Bur before I get specifically into price, let me warn you that this information is positively NOT for everyone.

It is FOR YOU if you are already doing some coaching in one way or another. If that’s the case, then I can promise you, “This information which I’m going to share with you WILL be responsible for every one of your team improving his/her Core Rugby Skills and hey, even improve yourself as a rugby coach.

It’s an absolute no-brainer and shoe-in (unless you have a ‘know it all’, ‘seen it all’ attitude.) Or you like to whine and complain. In that case, please, please, please do us both a favour and save everyone a huge headache by allowing somebody else to take your spot and profit from this information. (You should probably stop reading right nowJ)

It is also FOR YOU if you are a complete newbie but very very serious about improving as a rugby coach.

This is a golden opportunity to be provided with a true shortcut and road map from multiple sources who have a huge amount of experience in rugby coaching.

So back to the original question and what kind of price tag should I put on this information?

Frankly this is going to be one of the biggest bargains you’re going to get form me.

I recently attended a 2 day elite coaching seminar in Australia which cost me £177 and that’s not including airfare, hotel, food etc and one colleague argued that I should charge at least twice this amount for a “12 month subscription”.

I seriously considered this £29.50/month (£354/year) but in the end I decided against that.

I wanted to put this into the hands of as many serious amateur coaches WITHOUT price being a barrier so I’m thinking of  charging £14.75/month (£177/year) which works out at less than a couple of beers after each game.

At this price it should put it into the reach of anyone who really needs and wants it.

Now none of this is set in stone yet so don’t hold me to it.

I’m not 100% sure about the price, or that I’ll increase it, however, since I’ve had so many people asking me about the price I wanted to pull back the curtain a bit and give you a glimpse into what I’m thinking. If you’d like to voice your opinion, please post a comment below and stay tuned for more updates.

Hello
Being an amatuer coach in the UK we are all volunteers. We all give our time and all give a big effort in improving a great game. I do not feel any coach would pay when we give our time and effort for free. I feel that it is just a money making excercise as a coach it should be rewarding enough to see lads/clubs improving

Hi Jeff
I fully understand your point that there are a lot of amateur coaches who give up their time and effort free and that is one of the reasons I’m still going to be updating my blog with free ‘stuff’ as well as running the membership site.

However, as I mentioned in the post, I paid £177 to attend a 2 day coaching seminar because I want to keep improving and stay up to date with the latest coaching techniques etc. So I’m willing to share this type of information with amateur coaches who wish to see it and are willing to pay for the experience.

I understand it will not be for everyone, hence the free info on my blog but the majority of video’s, templates and forums will be for members only.

I wish you well in your coaching and hope you enjoy your rugby.

Neil

Neil,

I would think coaches giving up their own time to coach an amateur side would find your estimate of £14.95 pm too much. There a wealth of sites providing drills (animated and video) out their on the web including some union sites that you can use or adapt such as NZRU Coaching toolbox.
If it was a paid job and you need to keep up with best practice/coaching innovations to keep your development up then maybe.

Maybe club membership so all coaches within the club could use it may be a better approach for that price?

Anyway good luck on your venture

Paul

Hi Paul

I think that’s a great idea:-) and a ‘per club’ arrangement could definitely be sorted out. If anyone’s interested in this arrangemnt then please email me to arrange a group membership and please email Paul cause you’ll owe him a beer for the suggestion.

Neil

Sorry Neil, understand your costs etc, my junior coaches nor myself would be prepared to pay that amount for reasons already stated. The idea of a club membership may be A STARTER,but that very much depends on the club. The current climate with amateur clubs struggling
to keep its Bar takings going and fiance. It would be a matter of prioritising coaches needs. Pity because I have enjoyed what ypou have done.
Best Wishes

Hi Mark

Just to let you know as I researched many sights on coaching.

The price you mention is to UK standards not world standards. So when you mention 177 pounds you need to consider the euro, dollar and the rest of the world equivalent.

Personally I think you’re way out of the stadium never mind the field with 177 pounds.

Good luck

Neil

Appreciate nothing much for free these days, have found recent articles interesting so thanks but like others reluctant to commit on what we have seen so far.

Hey Neil,

Just a quick note re price. We’d all love it to be free but I’m a big believer in you get what you pay for and besides spending over $400 last year on rugby coaching (seminars/other websites)I’m looking forward to your forum where I can pick up ideas from other coaches (hopefully) as well as yourself.

Anyhow good luck with new site

Steve

Neil – I have enjoyed and used some of your content supplied to date. The web site I think is a very good idea – charging as well will make the site more proffessional and ensure that the users take it seriously. The earlier idea of a club subscription does make a lot of sense and I’d like to think that this approach should have some success.

Your pricing does not really seem that high considering it over the year. You could also consider some different pricing stcutures to reflect the different codes Union and League – Where content that’s suitable to both codes is differently priced from Union or League only content?? You could also run a self help forum and other interactive services Q&A ect which would help justify the value add angle.

Keep up the good work – I for one would not have a problem with £150-200 p.a membership charges – You might also need to look at international charges to spread your market – Also babelfish could provide mixed language areas? French, Spanish, Italian ..Maybe even Welsh!!

Hi Andrew

Cheers for the comments and ideas. I’ll put the bablefish idea to Clive Griffiths next time I talk to him:-)Seriously though, all these comments are good feedback and I appreciate every one of them.

I’m definitely going to look at the ‘club’ registration idea too.

Hi Neil,

I don’t mind paying the monthly fee as I’m sure the information inside will more than reflect that. Thanks for all the drills and stuff you’ve given us so far.

Good luck with the launch tomorrow, I’ll see you on the inside 🙂

Cheers, Lee
